SAIL ON ST JOHN'S SMALL TALL SHIP... BREATH, A HOMEGROWN CLASSIC

BREATH was built by her captain on St. John and launched into Round Bay with the help of 200 friends and a bulldozer. Since then she has run drugs to Haiti (anti-biotics for a children's hospital during the '94 blockade), carried drums and calabashes from African villages back to St. John...and has sailed discerning tourists to the prettiest anchorages and the best snorkeling in these islands. BREATH has crossed oceans...let her take you to the best day of your vacation.

BREATH....BORN HERE

Annually Inspected and Licensed by the US Coast Guard Breath's home port is Coral Bay, on the east side of St. John. From here she is well positioned to visit the coves and reefs of the remote windward side of the island.

Newfoundland Bay and Flannegan Island A typical day visits Newfound Bay, inaccessible by land, where BREATH sails through a pass in the island's longest barrier reef and anchors behind it. Great snorkeling, including a drift dive accompanied by the crew in a skiff, is followed by lunch. Then it's off to nearby Flanagan Island with snorkeling in unbelievably blue water---peaceful shimmering coral gardens and, for those with a taste for adventure, a guided tour into open water past underwater pinnacles and caverns. Includes lunch, snacks, ice, drinks. 9-4 or a little later

The Baths in Virgin Gorda. We motor up (3 hours), spend 2-3 hours exploring the natural wonder of gigantic boulders strewn along immaculate beaches and into the sparkling sea. Good snorkeling amongst the boulders. Then a lazy sail home. Includes lunch, drinks, snacks. BVI customs fees extra. 8am-6pm.

Norman Island. Breath motors and sails to Tortola where guests can enjoy art galleries, traditional West Indian architecture, a botannical garden, native pastries, and unusual shopping---while the crew clears customs. Then it's a beam reach across protected seas past lovely islands to the Willie T., famous (some would say notorious, but you be the judge) floating bar and restaurant, aswinging to a 7000 lb anchor in a stunning blue water cove. The food is remarkably good, considering, and the bartender "Zeus" is a legend, with cause. Snorkeling at either the Indians or the Treasure Caves. Includes snacks and drinks on the boat, however lunch and customs are not included.

Jost Van Dyke. Breath sails through narrow scintillating channels between beaches and islets and out into the broad Atlantic to arrive at Jost Van Dyke, the home of Foxy's, the original and prototypical island beach bar. Foxy is probably the most famous living West Indian after Fidel Castro. With luck he will entertain at lunch singing calypsos laced with sly wit sending up everything and anything from hurricanes to homosexuals (along with newlyweds, island dogs and fat tourists). Then to a beach or snorkeling stop, and then sail home.

Note: all BVI passengers must clear US customs in person at 8 am in Cruz Bay the morning of the day after the trip. This is in response to 9/11---easier to promulgate another useless directive than to actually catch Osama Bin Laden If this seems insupportable, stick with our local USVI waters.

We offer sunset cruises and half day trips as well.
